Backpacking Low Cost in Zambia 🇿🇲 - How to get on a budget to Chimfunshi Orphanage from Ndola

 We traveled from Ndola to Chingola by Shalom Bus which leaves around 1.30pm (they make us discount) from the roundabout Brodway with President Avenue.

 There is also another bus company - UBZ that operates on the same route as Shalom.

 

Shalom Bus - Ndola to Chingola

Arriving time 4pm

We slept overnight at Capogia Palms Lodge, 6km away from center for k400 per night. 

They provide breakfast and wifi, the room is quite big and the hot water only when the electricity is on. 

They have a generator also but the hot water doesn’t work when it’s on. 

The only minus - a lot of small cockroaches at night in the room but it is the cheapest that we could find. 

Next day before taking the bus to Chimfunshi we made some shoppings because we decided to stay there 4 nights.

We took a minibus to Chimfunshi Junction from the main bus terminal in Chingola (the parking opposite to PEP).

 The bus left 1.20pm and arrived at the junction at 3pm.

 We were so lucky because when we arrived at the Junction a car from Chimfunshi was parked right there waiting for someone to pick up so they gave us a lift.

 If we didn’t had this chance we should have walked, there are about 15 km through the forest.

 Be prepared to have water, some fruits and proper shoes for the rainy season when the road can be really muddy.

 If you are not into walking you can arrange with them to pick you up from the Junction before you arrive there.

 At Chimfunshi we stayed 4 days. A nice private room with shared bathroom and hot water is k400 per night. 

You have a shared kitchen where you can prepare your food. There is a person who goes in town once a week so he can buy for you food, if you don’t have enough with you.

 Also they can prepare food for you at a cost, you just have to arrange before coming there.

 Hot water is only in the evening. 

 We met there people that are staying for a long period to study the behavior of chimpanzee.

 The place is amazing, surrounded by nature and we recommend to stay there few days.
